About St Ives

St Ives is an attractive medieval market within the county of Cambridgeshire.

One of the main attractions to people looking to move to the area is the variety of housing options available.

St Ives itself has several options for buyers, with central townhouse living, only a short walk from shops and restaurants to more space in the towns thoughtfully designed estates.

There are also several excellent neighbouring villages for those looking for a more country feel, whilst remaining well connected for shops, restaurants, and employment.

Due to its riverside location and excellent road links, St Ives has always had an excellent variety of pubs and restaurants to visit. In fact, in 1838, this small town had no less than 64 pubs! One for every 55 inhabitants.

Today there are fewer pubs, however, more restaurants and coffee shops. With over 30 options of where to eat in the town, you’re spoilt for choice. The options include a Wetherspoons (The Swan and Angel), the newly opened Whiskey Café, Di Rita’s and more!

St Ives has several fantastic venues for events throughout the year, both inside and out.

The Corn Exchange in the centre of the town hosts a variety of events every month, from comedy nights, poetry, musical performances and arts & craft events.

Due to a large cluster of high-tech software companies selecting Cambridge as their home, the area has become known as ‘Silicon Fen’, also known as the Cambridge cluster.

The Busway was introduced in 2011 and is now used by residents to get to Cambridge and the surrounding areas on a daily basis. This mode of transport uses guided busway along old railway lines to reduce traffic and travel time.
